Sewer Utility Committee

Authority

Sewer Utility Committee is charged, per Ordinance 92-13 and RSA 149-I, with the administration of the sewer system of the Town of Hudson, as well as providing the Board of Selectmen with recommendations concerning policies and matters pertaining to the sewer utility.

The Sewer Utility Committee was established September 12, 1988 by Town Council Resolution 88-37. The authority and operations of the Hudson Sewer Utility are defined by Town Code Chapter 270.

The Sewer Utility Committee is comprised of five persons, four of whom shall reside in the town and reside in dwelling units which are either serviced by the sewer system or situated within the sewer district established by the town, or shall own real estate which is either so serviced by the sewer system or so situated in a sewer district; and one of whom shall reside in the town and may reside in a dwelling or an area not serviced by municipal sewer. Residents who fit the aforementioned qualifications may be appointed to said Committee by a majority vote of the Hudson governing board. The term of office of each member shall be for three years, appointed on a staggered basis. The governing board shall maintain a separate budget for the sewer utility and shall maintain records of its income and expenditures separate from those of other town operations. For audit purposes, the sewer utility shall be considered a separate department of the town operations. Fiscal responsibility and authority for the sewer system shall remain with the governing board.
