EMS Division
The EMS Division strives to provide the citizens and visitors of Hudson with a service that is both professional and caring. They welcome your comments and suggestions.
Staffing
The EMS Division of the Fire Department is comprised of EMT’s from the full time and call forces.
We currently have thirty-nine (39) EMT’s on the Department and all of our full time firefighters are dually trained as EMT’s. We have seven (7) full time Paramedics, twenty-six (26) full time and on-call EMT-Intermediates and six (6) full time and on-call EMT-Basics. These three categories of EMT’s are determined by certification and each has a different level of education and training requirements.
Training
The Department currently has two (2) EMT-Intermediates enrolled in Paramedic training. This is a yearlong course that includes classroom as well as clinical training. The addition of these two Paramedics will be an invaluable asset to the Department and to the citizens.
Training is ongoing in the EMS Division and during the months of April and May, all EMT’s will be participating in a 24 hour re-certification program. The EMT’s will be re-certified after completing the classroom portion and a practical exam based on standards of the National Registry of EMT’s.
Ambulance Fleet
When your calls for assistance come to our dispatcher from the 911 system, one of three ambulances will be sent from the Central Station.
