Department Responsibilities

The Town of Hudson Department of Public Works is a dedicated team of workers whose primary goal is to maintain the approximately 190 miles of the town's roadways in order to ensure public safety.

Under the supervision of the Public Works Director the Department of Public Works has many responsibilities such as:

  • Maintaining the town's sewer, water and drainage systems
  • Snowplowing roadways
  • Sweeping roadways
  • Roadside brush cutting
  • Overseeing the town's Recycling and Solid Waste contract
  • Manning the Town Clean-Up events
  • Landscaping town parks, cemeteries, and facilities
  • Maintaining traffic lights and road signs
  • Fleet maintenance
  • Maintaining 24/7 emergency response capability

The State Department of Transportation, District 5 (NHDOT) is responsible for the maintenance, salting, sanding and plowing of the following roads in the Town of Hudson.

  • Route 3A (from Elm Street to the Litchfield line)
  • Route 102/Derry Street (from Elm Street to the Londonderry line)
  • Kimball Hill Road
  • Route 111/Central Street (from Burger King to the Windham line)
  • Sagamore Bridge on and off ramps
  • Lowell Road (from Wason Road to River/Dracut Road)
  • River Road
  • Dracut Road
  • Sherburne Road

Truck Driver/Laborer Opening

Strong candidates will be considered based on their experience if they have the ability to obtain a CDL B license within 6 months of hire. Preferred candidate will possess CDL B at time of application. Paving, landscaping, construction or vehicle maintenance experience beneficial. Sewer and drain experience a plus.  This position offers fulltime year round employment, 4 day work week, overtime and an extensive benefits package. Starting salary is $18.38 per hour.

Fine for Impeding Snow Removal

Please be aware that there is a fine of $100 for impeding snow removal (Town Ordinance 317-19) by parking any vehicle or trailer in the road during a snow event, day or night. The vehicle is also subject to be towed at the owner's expense. Please, help us to help you by not leaving your vehicles in the road when it snows.
