Code of Ethics

The proper operation of democratic government requires that public officials and employees be independent, impartial and responsible to the people; that government decisions and policy be made through the proper channels the governmental structure; that public office not be used for personal gain; and that the public have confidence in the integrity of its government. In recognition of these goals, a Code of Ethics for all town officials and employees is adopted in accordance with under state law RSA 31:39A.

  • No member of the Code of Ethics Committee shall hold any other town elective or appointive office, board membership, commission membership or trusteeship.
  • No member of the Code of Ethics Committee shall be employed full- or part-time by the Town of Hudson.

The Code of Ethics Committee may require of any member of town government to appear before it and give such information as it may require in relation to this office, its function and performance. The Code of Ethics Committee shall give at least forty-eight (48) hours' written notice of the general scope of the inquiry which is to be made to any person it shall require to appear before it under this section. The Code of Ethics Committee, for this purpose, may administer oaths and require the production of evidence.

Meetings

The Code of Ethics Committee has five members elected for three-year terms and meet on an as-needed basis.

 


File a Complaint

The Code of Ethics applies to all officers and employees of the Town of Hudson, whether paid or unpaid, including the members of any Town department, agency, board or committee.

Any person may file a written complaint if he/she has information that a public servant has violated the Ethics Act.  In addition, the Ethics Committee itself may initiate a complaint if it receives credible evidence of a material violation of the Ethics Act.

Read carefully Chapter 53-6 to view the Procedures for Inquires and Alleged Violations and complete the Petitioner Information Form attached below. After completion, please bring the form to Town Hall to be filed with the Town Clerk.
