Planning Board

Authority

The Planning Board's authority stems from under state law RSA 673:1, and its principal function is "to prepare and amend from time to time a master plan to guide the development of the municipality" as per under state law RSA 674:1. In addition, the Planning Board has the "authority to make investigations and recommendations which relate to the planning and development of the municipality." The Board consists of six members and three alternates elected to three-year terms.

Board Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of municipal planning boards include preparing and updating a town master plan, recommending changes to the town ordinances, preparing a Capital Improvement Plan, updating subdivision/site plan regulations, and reviewing (approve or disapprove) subdivision/site plans.

Meeting Schedule

The Planning Board meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Please see our monthly calendar on the Town's home page for next meeting date. The public is invited to attend at Town Hall in the lower level Buxton Community Development Meeting Room.
