The residents of the Town of Hudson, New Hampshire, have a unique benefit in that they have seven day a week of animal control coverage. Jana McMillan is the full time Animal Control Supervisor and Deputy Health Officer, with more than 21 years of service to the town.  Their job is to protect the health and safety of humans and animals in the Town of Hudson. They work with many agencies, including: Fish and Game, many departments within the Department of Health and Human Services, the State Veterinarian and the Department of Agriculture, local veterinarians, health care professionals, and local Humane Societies, to name just a few. They pride themselves on being professional and providing quality of life services to the residents of Hudson.

Animal Control Officers (ACO) provides the following services:

-Maintain the town’s Animal Control Facility.
-Provide humane care of animals in custody.
-Reunite lost pets with their families. (*Always report lost pets immediately*)
-Investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect.
-Enforce state laws and local ordinances.
-Assist the Town Clerk in maintaining dog licensing.
-Testify in court cases.
-Respond to calls involving domestic animals, livestock, exotics, and wildlife.
-Educate the public on animal laws and animal care.
-Encourage the public to safely coexist with local wildlife through education.
-Provide a safe haven for pets of domestic violence victims.
-Assist officers on calls with potentially dangerous animals.
-Assist other police departments with animal calls and animal housing when needed.

 

Animal Control Officers are on duty from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. daily.
