Drug Activity:
In the state of NH, Illegal drug use is a criminal act. Before seeking employment with the Hudson Police Department, please ask yourself these questions:
- Have I used marijuana in the last 12 months?
-
- If so, this disqualifies you. NH PSTC Administrative rules 301.05 indicate this behavior prohibits us from appointing anyone who has taken part in these activities.
-
- Example - You tried marijuana while visiting a State or Country that has legalized its use. For this example let’s say that was in January 2022. An applicant would not be eligible for appointment as a Police Officer until February 2023.
- Selection - Successful applicants must be able to truthfully state that they have not used marijuana in the last 12 months. Applicant statements are verified by Background and Polygraph Investigation.
- Have I used an illegal controlled drug in the past 36 months?
-
- If so, this disqualifies you. NH PSTC Administrative rules 301.05 indicate this behavior prohibits us from appointing anyone who has taken part in these activities.
-
- Example - While studying for final exams in Nov 2020 a friend provided some Ritalin to help you concentrate. In our example Ritalin is a controlled substance not prescribed for your use. An applicant under 21 at the time of use would not be eligible for appointment as a Police Officer until Dec 2022 (24 months). An applicant age 21 or older at the time of use would not be eligible until Dec 2023 (36 months).
-
- Selection - Successful applicants must be able to truthfully state that they have not illegally used a controlled substance in the last 36 months or 24 months if under 21 at the time of the usage. Applicant statements are verified by Background and Polygraph Investigation.
- Drug Sales: have I sold illegal, transported an illegal substance for sale, or illegally manufactured a controlled substance. Does this activity negatively affect me being able to work as a Police Officer at Hudson PD?
-
- If so, this disqualifies you. NH PSTC Administrative rules 301.05 indicate this behavior prohibits us from appointing anyone who has taken part in these activities.
-
- Example: While in College you sold a few of your Ritalin tablets to friends to help them study for upcoming exams. Hudson PD would not appoint you as a Police Officer.
-
- NH PSTC Administrative rules 301.05 prohibit Hudson PD from appointing anyone who has illegally used a controlled substance in the 36 months prior to the date of submitting an application. A smaller time range is allowed if the usage occurred under the age of 21. In these cases, usage must not have occurred in 24 months prior to the date of submitting an application.
If the Answer is yes to any of the preceding questions, the Hudson Police Department likely will not employ you.
